Diary of a Confused Educator charts the journey of Ashanti Branch M.Ed.-award-winning teacher, mentor and founder of the Ever Forward Club and the #MillionMaskMovement-over his past two decades of impact. When Ashanti began teaching math near Oakland, CA where he was born and raised, he thought getting students to study and pass tests would be his biggest challenge. Instead, he discovered something deeper: a system that left too many young people feeling unseen, unheard and unsupported.
This is a book about the young men and women, and the lessons, that shaped Ashanti's path from overwhelmed educator to global changemaker. Through humour, compassion and vulnerability, he recounts trying to meet his students where they were-while pushing them beyond the masks they wore to hide their true selves.
