November 10,2022, just eleven days before my 13th birthday, I just had released my first book "What's This Preteen Sh*t ". I was being acknowledged for being 12 years old with a book out in my community and beyond! To someone on the outside looking in, my world looked pretty good but in reality I was battling depression. At 12 years old my depression got the better of me and on November 10,2022, I attempted suicide. This is a collection of my poetry during that time and after expressing how I was feeling.

Come along with young Alex as he tours the headquarters of Founderland, the "14th Colony" that never made it into history books. Share his surprise and wonder as he talks to various denim-clad department leaders who give him a glimpse of what a government would be like if it were founded on the principle that "peace is our natural inheritance." (And don't miss the trumpet blasts before each of the Leader's announcements!)"With this entertaining book, Robert Skutch gives us a very creative and humorous way to ponder some 'what if?' questions: What if a government was truly dedicated to peace? And what if ours was from the beginning? I loved this book and highly recommend it." - Gary R. Renard, best-selling author of the Disappearance of the Universe trilogy and The Lifetimes When Jesus and Buddha Knew Each Other"Turn these pages to find a well of wisdom and inspiration: one man's brilliant outline for a new way of governing. I can't wait to read this book with my grandsons when they reach high school age, although it has lessons for everyone." - Susan Wooldridge, best-selling author of poemcrazy: freeing your life with words"The co-founder of The Foundation for Inner Peace presents a blueprint for a much simpler, happier, and safer way of living in community when peace of mind, cooperation, and brotherhood become the priorities. Thought-provoking for all ages." - Carol Howe, author of Never Forget To Laugh: Personal Recollections of Bill Thetford

A penetrating history of the year World War II became a global conflict and humankind confronted both destruction and deliverance on a planetary scale, "offering an intriguing perspective on a world at war" (Richard Overy, New York Times-bestselling author of Blood and Ruins) By the end of the Second World War, more than seventy million people across the globe had been killed, most of them civilians. Cities from Warsaw to Tokyo lay in ruins, and fully half of the world's two billion people had been mobilized, enslaved, or displaced. In 1942, historian Peter Fritzsche offers a gripping, ground-level portrait of the decisive year when World War II escalated to global catastrophe. With the United States joining the fight following Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, all the world's great powers were at war. The debris of ships sunk by Nazi submarines littered US beaches, Germans marauded in North Africa, and the Japanese swept through the Pacific. Military battles from Singapore to Stalingrad riveted the world. But so, too, did dramas on the war's home fronts: battles against colonial overlords, assaults on internal "enemies," massive labor migrations, endless columns of refugees. With an eye for detail and an eye on the big story, Fritzsche takes us from shipyards on San Francisco Bay to townships in Johannesburg to street corners in Calcutta to reveal the moral and existential drama of a people's war filled with promise and terror.

1984 has come and gone, but George Orwell's prophetic, nightmare vision in 1949 of the world we were becoming is timelier than ever. "1984" is still the great modern classic "negative Utopia" - a startling original and haunting novel that creates an imaginary world that is completely convincing from the first sentence to the last four words. No one can deny this novel's power, its hold on the imagination of whole generations, or the power of its admonitions - a power that seems to grow, not lessen, with the passage of time.

An exclusive look behind the scenes of the Academy Awards as top stars and filmmakers discuss their Oscar wins and tell never-before-told tales of Hollywood's biggest night, in a collection of original interviews with Turner Classic Movies host and entertainment media journalist Dave Karger. For almost a century, movie fans have been riveted by the Academy Awards and the stars who have won Oscars. 50 Oscar Nights takes readers behind the scenes of Hollywood's most storied awards show through new and exclusive interviews with dozens of A-list actors, filmmakers, and craftspeople spanning sixty years of the Oscars. Here these artists reflect on their winning work and recount all the details of how they got ready, how they felt when they heard their name and got up on stage to accept their award, what they wore, how the entire experience impacted their life, and more. Some interviews bring to light fun stories like why Hilary Swank decided to celebrate her Academy Award at the Astro Burger in West Hollywood, or insight into the work as Elton John explains why he was convinced he won his Best Original Song award for the wrong tune. Other interviews illuminate why for some honorees, such as Julia Roberts, John Legend, and Octavia Spencer, the day remains a life highlight to be treasured, while for Marlee Matlin, Mira Sorvino, and Barry Jenkins, complex emotions cloud what most think would be a purely celebratory moment. Filled with more than 150 photos of red-carpet moments, emotional acceptances, and after-party play, 50 Oscar Nights is both a stunning record of cinema glamour and a must-read for any movie lover. Full list of interviewees: Nicole Kidman, Elton John, Jennifer Hudson, Steven Spielberg, Jane Fonda, Barry Jenkins, Halle Berry, J. K. Simmons, Julia Roberts, John Legend, Rita Moreno, Martin Scorsese, Marlee Matlin, Dustin Hoffman, Hannah Beachler, Cameron Crowe, Mira Sorvino, Kevin O'Connell, Sally Field, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, Eddie Redmayne, Lee Grant, Louis Gossett Jr., Hilary Swank, Clint Eastwood, Jessica Yu, Michael Douglas, Catherine Martin, Francis Ford Coppola, Allison Janney, Mel Brooks, Emma Thompson, Peter Jackson, Marcia Gay Harden, Mark Bridges, Sofia Coppola, Joel Grey, Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, Olivia Colman, Rob Epstein, Whoopi Goldberg, Alan Menken, Melissa Etheridge, Sissy Spacek, Keith Carradine, Estelle Parsons, Geoffrey Fletcher, Octavia Spencer, Aaron Sorkin, Meryl Streep
